Photo make in a urban park at Rio de Janeiro, this year all the flowers opened at the same time, lasting just one week. The cannonball tree (Couroupita guianensis) is a tree native to the rainforests of Central and South America. As the flowers are born in trunk from large bunches, I pointed the camera to the sky. The flowers are also strongly sweet scented. The fruit is spherical and woody and gives the species the common name. The fruit pulp has an unpleasant smell, but is safe to eat.
