Casa Barrientos
An open window in Casa Barrientos, Izalco, El Salvador, shining light onto a table full of art supplies. The house, built in the 1860s, has been designated as a symbol of cultural heritage. When I visited in 2012, the house was being used as a center for arts for the youth of Izalco - hence the artwork on the walls. An important idea in a country where so many youth become involved in gangs.
