    El Puente Nacional or National Bridge was built in the early nineteenth century. It was designed by the famous architect Manuel Tolsá. Under his now gentle arches and tranquil landscape, bloody battles were fought between insurgents and royalists during the Mexico's War of Independence in 1810.
