With no winds and temperatures around negative 15 the conditions were right for light pillars to form. A patch of fog rolled in around 4am on January 15th, 2015 causing the moisture to crystalize into what is referred to as 'diamond dust.' The plate shaped facets on the crystals reflect light to form these pillars. The view here is the small city of Charlotte, MI as viewed from the roof of Windwalker Arts & Underground Galleries.
