Rice terraces ready to plant
The Honghe Hani rice terraces are a recently designated UNESCO World Heritage site in the south of Yunnan province, China (just north of the border with Vietnam). They cascade down the Ailao mountains to the banks of the Hong River and have been in constant cultivation for the last 1300 years. They are truly marvellous to see and photograph, especially between seasons when the flooded terraces reflect the sunrise.
