Padrao on the Cape of Good Hope, a monument to Bartholomeu Dias the Portuguese seafarer who discovered the Cape of Good Hope, and to Vasco Da Gama. Ten years later (circa 1498 A.D.) Vasco Da Gama, using Dias' discovery, found the all sea route to India. He landed in what is now Goa. The territory remained a Portuguese colony till 1961.
