Spider Hunter on the look out for a prey
This picture was taken at Ganeshgudi (near Dandeli, Karnataka, India) at a Jungle Lodges Resort (Old Magazine House). This place is a haven for birds.
The spiderhunters are mostly forest birds, occupying a wide range of forest types. They are large representatives of the sunbird family, with drab plumage and long strongly curved bills.
They feed on both nectar and a range of small arthropods.
