in Hinduism we have 10 days of Pooja (special worship) of lord Ganesha in which we bring a clay idol home decorate and keep that at home with utmost respect ...even touching the idol in those days without taking bath is sinful....BUT after those ten days in september they are made to dissolve in water called visarjan...everyone forgets about it till next year pooja except the god and the idol left amidst the garbage .
