    The Medina, in Fes is a melting pot of smells, colors and people. There I found this butcher.The Arabic word 'halal' means permissible, and the rules of slaughter are based on Islamic law and on a specific ritual which has to be performed by a Muslim on an alive and healthy animal.

    What really makes this image is the great expression on the butcher's face. The illumination from the single light bulb give the whole image a beautiful painterly look.
