I have been lucky enough to have been up to the Serengeti/Maasai Mara ecosystem 3 times over the course of my guiding career, but unlucky to have spent close to 50 solid hours waiting and waiting for a wildebeest to cross a river (like you see on TV) ... unsuccessfully.
