    This tree was only survivor left standing in a 2007 fire. It still stands at the top looking over the city of burbank.

    I have come back to this image several times during my editing process trying to think about how to comment. I almost have no words. In one way it is such a simple image and in another way it is so complex. The framing of the tree with the web of lights from the city below and the clouds brushing through the frame all blend together so succinctly. This image reminds me that we are all on this earth together. It also reminds me that we do to nature we do to ourselves.
