When the sky darkened and the rain began to fall in the little Turkana village of Marti, I took the opportunity to make some close-quarters portraits of the assortment of villagers (and their animals) who'd run to this little shop porch for shelter. This frame initially had just the goat, but the girl slid in seamlessly to take her place next to it. I snapped and thought might be the end of it. But there were more girls standing just outside the frame who weren't going to be left out...
