In a little native garden a short walk from my home, many beautiful local plant species grow. This ladybug marks the launch of spring sitting peacefully on a camas petal near the entrance to the garden. Camas is a native plant that can be harvested for its bulb, steamed, and eaten. Although I have never tried it, I am told it can be quite sweet.
