    Reported by:

Geamana Lake - Alba - Apuseni Mountains, Romania. A very photogenic landscape but also a very sad story. The image shows the remains of Geamana village, where in 1978 started copper mining at Rosia Poieni and now the village is turned into a tailings pond. This 200 meters deep lake has swallowed hundreds of houses, a cemetery and in a short time will cover the church once located on a high hill. A large series of photos and story with this place you can find on my website: www.adrianpetrisor.ro
