The Monk and the Tiger.
This was shot at a highly controversial Tiger Temple in the city of Kanchanaburi, Thailand. The love shared between the tiger and the monk is clearly evident, but the question is, do Tigers belong chained up in urban areas to be used for profit generating enterprises as they are here? Or do they belong in the wild? At least here the Tiger is loved and safe from poachers. If it were returned to the wild it would probably not last long and be killed by poachers or villagers within a few months.
This is an extraordinary interaction between a man and tiger. I was happy to see the caption explained the controversial nature and complexity. The power and tenderness captured simultaneously make this one special.
