Nenet Woman Among Reindeer
I travelled with a Russian friend, who had built a relationship with a Nenet family. The family lives a nomadic life in the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia. Finding the family was half the trouble, as they are always on the move to travel to warmer climates in the winter (and better grazing ground in the summer.) Once there we joined in the work: herding the over 1,000 caribou, packing all the belongings on sleds, and traveling in a mile-long caravan for the few hours of daylight.
