Backpacking into Great Sand Dunes National Park is a very unique experience that was well worth the effort. After a several hour rainstorm, we had our opportunity to hit the trail (sand). The moisture helped to compact the sand and made our hike much easier than previously expected. The nearly full moon, glow sticks and lit up tents made for a unique scene in the middle of the night.
