The red-wattled lapwing
The red-wattled lapwing (Vanellus indicus) is a wader known in India by the onomatopoeic name 'Did-he-do-it' from its loud call. Usually seen in pairs not far from the water. The mating season is form March to August. During the courtship the male puffs its feathers, points its beak upwards and shuffles around the female.
