Edit Photo Details A bit of local climate change   #volcano #aleutians
We'd been cruising in the Bering Sea for a couple of days, but headed south into the Pacific between Unalaska and Unimak islands in the Aleutians. On Unimak Island, we noticed a lovely snow (ice?) covered volcanic cone. While admiring the cone, Mt Shishaldin, we noted that the clouds from the top weren't actually clouds, but a plume of ash that the volcano was sending out. We enjoyed this unexpected sight for about an hour until darkness fell. The outside temperature was 1 c.
