Musicians from one of the 18 philharmonics at Greek island Corfu during the Easter period, The establishment of the first Philharmonic became the period of English Protection, in response to the refusal of the British to provide musical accompaniment for Orthodox processions (1837). The residents of Corfu three years later, in 1840, founded the Philharmonic Company of Corfu. These days the lessons are free for everyone to join.
