The ocean gypsies on the island of Mabul, off the Malaysian coast of Borneo, offered me the opportunity of interacting with the community through an exciting photographic experience. Kids would sail on old wooden canoes and try to sell fresh fish by climbing up the stilts on which the entire village was built. The picture captures a 9 year old boy holding on to the edge of the stilt.
