Edit Photo Details Filling the moat with blood red poppies   #poppies #tower_of_london #islandsassignment #world_war_i_commemoration
From 5 August 2014 to 11 November 2014, a major artistic installation entitled 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' saw the Tower of London's famous dry moat filled with over 800,000 ceramic poppies, creating a powerful visual commemoration for the First World War Centenary, each intended to represent one British or Colonial serviceman killed in the War. I watched the volunteers in the initial stages of the installation and was greatly moved.
