A chance opportunity arose in front of me as I was photographing shore crabs and the last sun of 2014 on Koh Chang island, Thailand. This pacific reef heron landed in my line of sight and sent me into a frenzied camera reset before it briefly ruffled its feathers - I just managed a shot to capture this as the sun set directly behind. Rather than attempt to pull detail from the bird i left it as it was shot - as a silhouette.
