A woman sells colorful stands of dried flowers in one of the many courtyards of the Thamel Market in Kathmandu. She is sitting in front of a small stupa with a statue of Buddha at the top. This portrait was taken 5 minutes before the 7.9 magnitude earthquake on April 25/15. This woman survived the main quake and series of aftershocks. She was beside me throughout this time, standing on the top step of the stupa to move as far away as possible from falling bricks from surrounding buildings.
