The fiscal shrike's common name is the 'butcher bird' due to its habit of impaling its prey on acacia thorns to store the food for later consumption -Wikipedia. I came across this small mouse butchered on a barbed wire fence in Hilton, South Africa. This image shows us the brutality of nature. Sometimes it's the small things in life that amaze you the most.
