I will never forget the exact moment while driving across the coastal road in Reunion Island, when the fresh and green jungle turned into a deep black landscape. I arrived to Le Grand Brûlé, the slopes of island's active volcano. There were no trees, no jungle, but a little vegetation growing from lava flows of earlier eruptions. So after fire and death, life always finds its way.
