On the drive out to Allstroms Point, on Lake Powell , the scenery is beautiful. This area is part of the Esculante Staircase and is protected. I can see why mining companies want to exploit this area. It is full of minerals, like coal. Thankfully , it is protected . Some view the area as waste land , but it is beautiful and should be protected.
