    We were travelling from Johannesburg to the Western Cape via the Northern Cape and planned to stay at the Witsand Nature Reserve in the Northern Cape to photograph the dunes. The first evening while exploring the dunes we came across a dead Kamel Thorn tree and decided to wait for the last light to throw long shadows across the sand.
