The Gergeti Trinity Church (Tsminda Sameba, Holy Trinity Church) is very close to Gergeti village, overlooking the neighboring village of Stepansminda (former name Kazbegi). The remote area is around three hours away from Georgia's capital, Tbilisi but only 12 kilometers from the Russian border and 45 minutes to the town of Vladikavkaz/Beslan in North Ossetia. The church is connected to the villages by a narrow path. Offroad vehicles need around 30 min to drive up there, hikers around 2 hours.
