This bear and I found each other in the backcountry of Olympic National Park in early Autumn. There was a moment of tension, then I began to gently sing to him, and he calmly just looked at me, with eyes full of innocence and gentleness, but power also. A relationship was formed, and an agreement was made, and my life will be forever richer for it.
