Night in Morocco during the month of Ramadan is a festival of light. Lamps illuminate tables, floors and wall niches with beautiful patterns of shadow and light. I pause to contemplate the intricate design of these lamps. In ancient tradition, decorating and artistic expression was a form of 'Barakah' meaning spiritual wisdom and blessing transmitted from God. Shapes found on Moroccan floor lamps aim to protect, empower and command respect. The shining light symbolically inspires the viewer.
