In the middle of a lush landscape dotted with houses in Monteverde, Costa Rica, a place devoted to environmental conservation, this seemingly dead tree seems out of place. The satellite dish in the distance is a reminder that the population of the area has exploded recently, due to an increase in ecotourism. Some residents are concerned that the town has become too modernized, and that their traditions and simple ways of life are disappearlng. (Taken with the HDR setting of my Samsung Galaxy S4)
