life on the lagoon
Many rafts afloat over the lagoon near a settlement in Lagos, Nigeria. Main preoccupation of the folks is wood trade, fishing and sand dredging.
The wooden platforms are thought to compensate for the lack of land, and thus support life and business a little beyond the stilt housing. People can go out on water to use fishing lines or board a canoe. It is interesting how paddlers navigate the way around to their destination.
