This Crepe Myrtle or Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia sp.) was a gift to my wife from my brother. These flowering trees are beautifully colored and are often planted both privately and commercially. I took this capture in early morning as it's been so hot in South Mississippi this summer. The sun had risen an hour or so ago and was still at an oblique angle to the tree. The back lighting really makes the flower anatomy prominent.
