Over Thanksgiving weekend 2012 my wife and I took a trip up the California coast following the Pacific Coast Highway. We made no plans, no itinerary, no hotel reservations. We just got on the road with tour books and a smart phone determined to see as much as we could each day while traveling north from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Each night when we decided to rest we found a hotel in the area with a vacancy. This was sunset as seen from Morro Rock at the end of our second day.
