Mammatus clouds turn hues of purple, pink, orange, and yellow as the sun sets in southwestern Missouri. This scene emerged as a team of researchers was zooming along to collect data in nighttime thunderstorms as part of the PECAN field campaign (https://www.eol.ucar.edu/field_projects/pecan).
