Eastern Phoebe posing in mid-morning sunlight. Right now the Wood Ducks aren't in their best plumage and activity on the pond is somewhat slow. But I still go when I can to spend a few hours in my blind and observe the activities as the summer progresses. On Friday I had a ringside seat to watch this Phoebe hunting throughout the day. When I first saw this bird I thought it would be great if it would pose on this nearby snag in the direct sunlight with shade at its back. And it did! 7/31/2015
