    This Pied avocet is one of the many migrating birds that stop over in the middle east during the start of winters. While making our rounds of a man made lake in the middle of the deserts of Dubai, I noticed a small whitish looking bird with an unusual behaviour (swaying its head in the water left to right in quick successions). This was the first ever sighting of this species for me. I parked few meters away and took to the ground and waited. the edge of the water was few inches below the normal
