On a game observing safari in South Africa, our tour came across this giraffe, which limped out of the bush onto the road ahead of us. Shooting this photograph was bittersweet. The animal's gait marked it as injured and our guide said it probably would soon be prey because it wouldn't be able to outrun a predator, most likely a lion.
