Much more than some hard, carved stones, these details of the ceilings of the theatre of Aspendos resemble a beautiful and very delicate piece of lace. [The ancient Greek city of Aspendos was located in Asia Minor (now province of Antalya, in Turkey). This is considered to be one of the best preserved theatres of Ancient Rome, and it was built in 155 A.D., during the kingdom of Marcus Aurelius, with the capacity to host 7000 people.]
