    In the Maras Salt Mine near Urubamba in Cuzco, I found a man whose work was to carry every sack of salt to a truck. It was not a short way and the sacks were not light at all (20-30 kg). Behind him the different stages of salt production can be seen. Every pool is on a different stage. The darker ones have been recently filled with salty water, while the white ones are almost completely filled with crystallized salt, remaining from the evaporated water.
