It is the driving force behind the economy in the region. The Texas City Dike is a 5 mile stretch of land originally designed in the 1930's to prevent sediment accumulation from the Houston Ship Channel. It is a popular fishing destination for thousands of people, many of whom work along the Energy Corridor in Houston.
