I was visiting Yehliu Geopark in north-eastern Taiwan under midday sunlight. Since the hour was not the best for standard landscapes, my attention was captured by the beautiful patterns of the sedimentary rocks: I started taking pictures from directly above the chosen details, amused by how the shots closely resembled aerial photos, or indeed satellite images of Mars, Jupiter, the Earth itself or possibly some alien world. The difficult part was keeping my own shadow out of the frame.
