Tenacity
This gnarled and twisted juniper tree clings tenatiously to the rock cliff 100 ft above the beautiful Kalamalka Lake, a moraine lake formed when the glaciers retreated in the last ice age. In the heat of the summer and warmer water temperatures, dissolved calcium becomes suspended in the water giving it a bright turquoise color. I have photographed this tree before but got up high this time to capture the beautiful color contrast. This tree is the oldest known living tree in the Okanagan Valley.
