In late May 2015, I was the first traveler of the season through the Yosemite High Country's Saddleback Pass. The trail was buried beneath the snow as I hiked on to discover ice-covered lakes and new snow melt streams, the likes of which no one had laid eyes upon since the trails had closed in the fall.
