Twisting Tunnels of America vs. England
Exploring Newport, Rhode Island I found myself on a bike headed for Fort Adams joining an historical site tour. Making friends with our tour guide he invited me to stay on after and took me through another stretch of tunnels giving me more history of this fabulous place and more photo ops. Tunnels offshoots serve as listening tunnels, hoping to catch sneaky digging Brits as they attempted to penetrate the fort from below, so effective they were never taken. I find this stretch a mysterious draw.
