Around the houseboats lined up along the banks, fluttering ducks and geese, and children splashing about, naked and laughing, stopping to stare as we pass by. The tiny windows in the grey wooden boats reveal kitchens with shiny aluminium and copper pots and pans. Wide–eyed children eat chapatis, while women wearing silver bracelets look on engrossed.
