Waking up
While visiting the Chitwan national park in Nepal, I took this shot at a loading zone for tourists. Dawn's mist seems to give birth to these beasts of burden and their melancholy handlers on their way to begin a new work day. The Asian elephant has been an important part of Nepalese culture for centuries and have become more domesticated as their natural resources shrink. Conservation education plays an important role in Chitwan to encourage its local community members to protect their forests.
