With his head partly shaved and his body painted black; this boy catches his breath and watches other groups as he waits for his group's turn to perform their tribe's sing-sing (traditional song and dance) at the Goroka Show. First held in 1957 to promote peace and harmony among the warring highland tribes of Papua New Guinea; the Goroka Show is now celebrated every September, enjoys the participation of around 100 tribal sing-sing groups, and is touted as "the world's most colorful show".
