The local species of the cow (not the crossbred ones) is believed to be a descendant of 'Kamdhenu', a cow owned by Indra, the king of Gods. These cows were also in the possession of Lord Krishna. Today, the cow is all decorated, garlanded, and paraded on the roads, and the faithful touch her seeking blessings. They also hand over a small amount to the person who owns that cow. Faith, thus helps the faithful and the one who helps them get closer to what they believe in.
